Guest Reviews of Campfire Lodgings

10/10 recommend this campground!!

We absolutely LOVED our stay at Campfire Lodgings! The staff, the views and entire property were wonderful. The lots are very well maintained, the bathhouse is large and clean and campground office had a few provisions. We stayed in P1 with our 38ft fifth wheel and feel like we had the best spot for a Mid-July stay, perhaps in the whole campground! The Premium sites have stunning views but note from P2-P5, you have no shade on the edge of the mountain. They are still amazing sites but plan accordingly in warmer months. P1 and P8 are shaded and still have excellent views. Relaxing at the overlook at sunset was such a treat. There are just enough trails to keep our dogs happy with walks. We stayed with a small group, the others in the Deluxe sites; D17 stays shaded all day and has lots of privacy. D19 is a great little site with a nice deck that makes you feel like you are dining in a treehouse! And our friends down at D14 had so much peace! My mom stayed in Cabin 34 and it was very nice, extremely clean and perfect for a family without a camper. The decor was precious and didn't lack a single thing from home. The new sites were not open at our stay but are also very nice and tucked up the hill in the trees. I bet they will have some great seasonal views at sites 31 & 33! The yurts are private and look like they would be nice to stay in up top, nestled in the trees. The week we were there, we saw turkeys, deer and even a bear! This campground is something special, a true gem, small and cozy, perched atop the mountain... you feel like you are so far away from everything! We loved watching the storms roll in, the peace and quiet, and truly look forward to our next stay!

We LOVE Campfire Lodgings and the wonderful folks who run it so smoothly and extremely well. We are campers and find the sites there are very well situated, and not cramped together.  We get a true feel of being away from it all, and yet we are actually VERY close to all the wonderful activities, art and culture of lovely Asheville.  For me the nearby supermarkets and especially Trader Joe's (my FAVORITE place) make the location extra attractive.  We also so appreciate the lovely clean private bathrooms, as well as the electric and water spigots at each site.  It kind of makes camping rather luxurious!

My husband and I upgraded from a tent site to a yurt during our stay last Tuesday through Thursday.  I just wanted to let you know that we loved everything about our time there.  Neither of us have ever stayed in a yurt.  That was really something!  The fireplace made it so nice and cozy after having a wet, chilly night in a tent before we arrived in Asheville.  Your bathhouse was phenomenal, I almost felt like I was in the comfort of my own home.  The views from the property were breathtaking!  Everyone was so friendly.  We just wanted to express our gratitude, and let you know that we are spreading the word to family in the area that they should definitely come stay with you too.

Thanks for everything!

GREAT park---Beautiful scenery and each site is perfectly placed with nature.

Talking of attractive, the view from the ridge is just STUPENDOUS, and the people in the RV's always seem to be so friendly and happy to share the viewing area with we tent types!  Finally, Ande, Stormy, Jason and Marissa keep everything running like clockwork and always neat, clean and quiet.  We so look forward to enjoying future camp-outs at Campfire Lodgings.  Thank you All.

Loved the place! But the bath house needs some serious work! As long as your RV has its own bath you are probably gonna love it but with out little hardside A frame we have to have a bath house. I hesitated even using the showers ...With some work it could be a better stay!

We enjoyed four wonderful nights at the campground. Our site was great. The workers that we met were awesome. We loved every minute and will definitely be back. Also, even though our camper has a bathroom I decided to try out the public bathroom for a shower and they were great you have your own private bathroom toilet, shower and vanity! We will recommend it to everyone!
Any camper owes it to themselves to visit this campground. Wonderful staff, well maintained, and amazing views. The climb to the top[ is worth every foot of the trip. We went in November with a 37 foot Motorhome. No doubt we will be there again. Warm, Warm bathrooms. Well Done.

Hello: I just wanted to write and tell you what a wonderful campground and staff you have. We enjoyed our time with our family spending Thanksgiving in the mountains. Beautiful scenery and Jason and Ande were awesome! We truly enjoyed our time. One of the best trips we've taken in a while.
Again, thank you!

Just a note to say, we thoroughly enjoyed our camping trip at your facility! The sites were perfectly carved out and very accommodating. Also, the bathhouse was super clean and well equipped with all the necessities. We'll definitely be back, hopefully soon.

Thank you for being so helpful and welcoming.

Loved this small site. The views were spectacular and made driving up the gravel road (up and up the road) worthwhile. Seeing the sun rise and clouds lift over the valley below was stunning.
WIFI was lightening fast, camp staff very friendly and helpful. As advertised this is perhaps not the best site for young kids but for adults that just like peace and quiet. Good trails to walk the dogs.

Had a great experience at your campground. Everyone on the staff was very friendly but a special shout out to Jason. He was the one I had the most interaction with. He went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful stay.
Thanks,
Bill & Lisa

Almost Heaven, extremely pleasant. Quiet and wonderful friendly staff. The Mountains views and overlooking the French Broad River are spectacular.

This is a beautiful Campground with view's to die for. The staff is very friendly and the campground is very clean. Lots of trails to hike. We watched the sun set from the overlook. So beautiful. We will be back soon and often. This is our favorite new campground. Thank you Campfire Lodging's for a wonderful time.

Excellent. Best view ever. Hidden gem.

We love it here. Grounds are kept pristine. Friendly and accommodating. The views are off the charts beautiful. Thanks to Ande for fitting us in.

We were there December 27th thru 31st. We loved it and made plans to come back September 21 thru 25. We had a wonderful time, our dog Jax loved the walks we took and the views were spectacular.

This was our second trip here. This time we brought lots of friends who camped and stayed in yurts. We already made our reservations for next year. Beautiful views great location. Awesome workers! We have rec this to other friends.

We loved our stay at Campfire Lodgings, so much so I wish we had booked more nights. The property is well maintained and the vistas are beautiful. Bath house is kept tidy. The communal seating area is a great place to sit with other vacationers to watch sunset. We met some great people! It is only about a 10 min drive into downtown Asheville and there is a well appointed supermarket just down the hill. We will return and plan for a longer stay next time.

Where do I start?! My husband and I just can't say enough about Campfire Lodgings! Our stay here was phenomenal. We stayed in tent site #4 from March 11th-19th, 2017. We cannot express in words how much we enjoyed our stay here! The staff are caring and accommodating.  The lady in the office (not sure what her name was) was also very sweet and kind. Truly terrific people. The campground itself is a gem! As the other reviews explain, the views are amazing! The bathhouse is heated - which we appreciated since the high while we were tent camping that week never got above 45 degrees! (2 of those days the high was 18 degrees!) The trails are quiet and offer great hiking experiences. There are a lot of negative reviews about the road you must take to get to the stop of the mountain where the campground is located. BUT, they are over-exaggerating it immensely. The road is not very narrow, there's plenty of room to pull off to the side if you need to. The road isn't even as long as others have explained. It's absolutely not an issue, even for someone hauling a camper or driving a big Class A. We are from Florida, so we are not used to the steep, winding mountain roads and we still weren't even the slightest bit nervous about the road leading up. Our campsite itself (tent site #4) was so much fun to hang at and it was, in our opinion, the best tent site there! We were very happy with the accommodations available. There were 2 days where we did not have running water at the site, but that was not the campground's fault...that was simply because the weather dropped below freezing. The seclusion was so relaxing. We enjoyed our stay here so much we added an extra day to our trip! We didn't want to leave, and neither will you! Campfire Lodgings will not disappoint. We highly recommend it and we are already planning another visit, but this time with our 4 kids. Thank you Campfire Lodgings for an unforgettable experience!

This place has the most AWESOME views! Cant wait to get back there on April 28th. Look forward to seeing you again Ande!

My husband and I recently stayed four days in a Yurt here. It was a great experience. The Yurt, with bath, was very clean and comfortable. Our son and family were camping on one of the RV sites so it was very convenient to walk back and forth. Campfire staff were very helpful and friendly as well. We enjoyed our stay and would visit again._

Marge and I had a great long weekend at your campground. Close to the Biltmore was the reason we picked Campfire Lodgings. After staying at the campsite, your campground could be located anywhere; and we would come back just to stay there. Thank you.

Campfire Lodgings was in our top 3 campgrounds that we ever stayed at! We loved our tent site - it was nice and private for the kids. The bath house was always clean, the entire campground was immaculate, and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly! Thank you for making our first family vacation together a memorable one!

We loved staying at your campground. Our site #9 was perfect with some shade and view over the mountain. Jason (maintenance person) and everyone there was very helpful and pleasant. We would definitely stay here again.

Very clean and the staff was very nice. They were more than willing to help us with anything we needed. The location is easy to get to and not but about 10 minutes from downtown breweries and restaurants. We will be back in the future!

My wife and I spent last weekend here. I read the reviews before making a reservation. I saw the dissatisfaction some people had, but decided to take a chance anyway. I will tell you that I've been RVing for many years and Campfire Lodgings is one of the best we've ever visited. I told my wife numerous times how impressed I was - and its tough to impress me... The hosts at Campfire Lodgings were more friendly and helpful than anyone hosts I've ever met! I felt like I knew Jason for years. My satellite couldn't pick up a signal so I hooked up the cable. The signal was bad so Jason offered to bring his personal TV to my RV so I could watch the Masters without interference. I graciously declined and read a book by the campfire. The views were beautiful, showers/restrooms clean and well kept, trails were loaded with deer and turkeys, very dog friendly (we have 3 labs), quiet, clean, friendly and sites are spacious and well separated. One word of advice, I have a Ram 3500 pulling a 43' Elkridge 5er. The approach to the campsite was "precarious" but take it slow and you'll be fine. Excellent family friendly campground! Cant wait to get back in warmer weather. Thanks Jason for your hospitality.

LOVE Campfire Lodgings!!!! Beautiful sites and the best staff anywhere (thanks so much Andi and Jason)! Don’t let the hilly road deter you; it’s no big deal and very well-maintained we have a 42 ft 5th wheel and it’s no problem ;)
We really love staying there :) :).

So happy that we found this campground. The staff here are over the top helpful and kind. We were lucky to have book a site on the ridge overlooking the valley and river below. Our site was clean and offered all we needed to settle in for a week. Office has a cute gift shop and all the maps and guides of. Be sure to get driving tips from from the staff, they can show you shortcuts that will keep you off freeways when heading into downtown. A real plus for us, there is a Trader Joe's for grocery shopping. yeah! There is a nice little park in the middle of the park to play catch, throw a frisbee or play a game of horseshoes. The bathrooms offer private mini suites, with a toilet, shower and sink, albeit small it was really clean. If you don't get a site on the overlook, there is a common viewing area to watch the sunset over the valley.

We had the best time at Campfire Lodgings. Our campsite was the best, P2. The view cannot be beat! The folks that work there, courteous, and always ensuring our stay was good. Coming back soon.

Calling from nearby at the last minute, needing a site for our camper in Asheville, we were relieved Jason had a cancellation and we could have that space. Once we realized what a great spot it was, we decided to spend the whole week there. This is a small campground surrounded by land with hiking trails and a great view west to the Smoky Mountains and French Broad River. Campers gather at a communal space to celebrate sunset. Though most campers use their own lavatory facilities, the public ones available provide hot showers, etc. in individual rooms. There was never a wait for one to be available. At the base of the hill, there is a tortilleria making the best tortillas we have ever had- but get there early. This campground is not "in" the city but so close that most places we went were only a 15-minute drive away. Jason is on-site to keep things running smoothly and make sure everyone is comfortable. We'd stay here again.

We stayed 5 nights on site P-2. Wonderful stay, stunning, relaxing view and environment! This is a very clean, low key campground that was our retreat from days of walking/driving/touring around Asheville. Very close to everything! Shower houses were clean, grounds were pristine. Only thing needed is a tiny bit more green space for our pampered pooches who were sensitive to all of the gravel roads. We will be back!!

The views are amazing and the staff very helpful and welcoming. We loved our time there and wished we could have stayed longer.  We stayed in a Deluxe site.

My family and I had a wonderful time together at Campfire Lodgings. We had the most beautiful view from our site, the staff was super helpful and friendly, the facilities were close and clean, and the environment was very peaceful. The location is close enough to get supplies quickly but away from the busy town . We will definitely be returning !

We have spent one night here in a tent and I am so excited we have another night reserved! Clean bathrooms for tent dwellers, safe, non-smoking, spectacular view, and close to Biltmore and surrounding activities. Everyone we have had communication with has been pleasant and helpful. Follow the rules and come with a pleasant attitude and you should be pleased! Bring your flashlight (one for each person) because you’ll need to walk to the bathroom in the dark!

We enjoyed our stay there this weekend. The cabin was nice and we felt right at home there. Will stay with you again, possibly next spring. The restaurant you recommended was excellent. Thank you for your friendly and courteous service.

I have stayed at Campfire Lodgings many times and each time I leave looking forward to my return visit! This is the perfect campground, great sites, very nice and clean bathhouses, and campsites with a beautiful view! And the staff is outstanding! If you are looking for a great relaxing place to get away, I certainly recommend Campfire Lodgings!

We loved, loved staying here October 19-22, 2019. The cabin was nestled in the woods with a view of the mountains from the deck. The kitchen was stocked with utensils and plates plus a BBQ grill. Our bed was very comfortable and the cabin was clean. Everyone we talked with on staff was friendly and so helpful at all times. The convenience to downtown and the grocery store was fantastic. Best part was the overlook for sunsets and sunrises. Breathtaking! We have referred the cabin to all of our friends and family. Will surely be back again and again.

We had the pleasure of staying at Campfire Lodgings this past weekend. This was our first time staying here and hope to visit a lot more in the future. Jason and Marissa were so helpful and nice. The bath house was very clean and the grounds are well cared for. Thanks for a great stay. Hope to see you all again soon.

I searched online for a place in Asheville and found Campfire Lodgings. I was nervous about the comments of the road, but made it just fine with a 40 ft 5th wheel. Absolutely our favorite campground ever. Incredible views, super quiet, close to tons of things to do.
The premium sites provide a vista for waking in the morning with a coffee or glass of wine at sundown. You can watch the storms over the Blue Ridge mountain range while it's sunny by you. Catch a foggy morning and the French Broad river below has a prehistoric feel to it.
Evenings with the sounds of Indigo Bunting songs, turkeys perched on the split rail fence next to our camper - and miles of unobstructed view.
Ande is awesome.
That's why we finally retired from NJ / NY and moved here.
